The Cubic, a 4000m² canvas for creativity.

I have a vivid recollection of the moment I first set eyes on Mijnweg number 3 (later named The Cubic). The entire interior of this 1980s office building had been gutted, with old plaster, electrical wiring, and various other debris scattered as far as the eye could see, reminiscent of a tank driving through it.

The IIC Group recently acquired the building, and the creative team was assigned the task of conceptualizing and revamping the entire space. Starting on this project marked my very first assignment as a member of the team. Embarking on this project was both daunting and exhilarating, presenting a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

Unaware of the full extent of the responsibility bestowed upon us, we set off on this endeavor. Beginning with a few mood boards, we quickly progressed to detailed 3D concepts, developing custom wall-sized visuals, selecting workstation layouts, choosing floor samples, purchasing furniture, and determining the lighting plan for all areas. Every square centimeter of the building was designed by us, from the floors to the toilets, from the cafeteria to the cinema, and from the workstations to the boardrooms.

“Houston, we have a problem.”

Our goal was not only to make every space aesthetically pleasing and in line with Cubic’s vision but also to incorporate elements of surprise that would create unforgettable experiences and bring joy to people’s faces. The bathroom areas provided the perfect canvas for this, as they were concealed until entering the room. For one of the stalls, we designed a visual of an astronaut floating with an actual plunger in one of the stalls.

Is there such a thing as too much coffee?

Caffé Roma, inspired by Coffee shops around the world, and staffed by a professional barista, served as The Cubic’s primary coffee spot. Both employees and guests could enjoy a variety of delicious coffees, teas, and nutritious smoothies, keeping everyone fueled up throughout the day.

Dephion Boardroom

The Dephion boardroom was specifically created to facilitate C-level meetings, showcase product demonstrations to potential clients, and extend invitations to VIPs. Our objective was to create an atmosphere of elegance and luxury in the room, while also ensuring that it remained well-suited for the essential activities at hand.

To achieve this, we incorporated the following elements:

High-grade materials
Exclusive light fixtures
Designer furnishings
Moss wall panels
Lounge area
Spray-on acoustic ceiling
